Take a great photo here in northeastern Washington, and you could win a terrific ski getaway to Newport and 49° North Ski & Snowboard Resort. Here’s how to win.
Prizes and categories
All photos must be taken in Pend Oreille County within the past year. There are two categories for submission. The Lifestyle & Family category is for photos that include people enjoying our wonderful northeastern Washington lifestyle. The Scenic category is for beautiful scenes here, and may or may not include people.
Voters will help us choose our grand prize winner! The Best in Show will be selected by our judges from among the 10 photos that receive the most votes during the contest. Help choose the finalists by voting for your favorite photos. And remember: Everyone can vote once per day per photo, so come back often to see new photos and vote.

Official rules
Photo entries must be submitted here via the Pretty in Pend Oreille photo contest web page, beginning August 1 through October 25, 2016. All photos must be taken in Pend Oreille County within the past year. All ages are welcome to submit photos, but to be eligible to win prizes the photographer must be 18 years or older, or represented by his or her legal guardian.
By submitting your photo for the Pend Oreille County EDC’s Pretty in Pend Oreille Photo Contest, you agree to these conditions:
- Because all photos submitted to the contest are protected by copyright law, we can only use photos submitted by the actual copyright holder — that is, the photographer who took it — or by his or her authorized agent. When you submit a photo for this photo contest you warrant that you are authorized to do so.
- By submitting your photo you agree to its use by the Pend Oreille County Economic Development Council on its website and and marketing and promotional materials. Each photographer will continue to own all rights to his or her photo, and may use their photo in any other publication or website, but by submitting it in the Pretty in Pend Oreille Photo Contest, you agree to provide Pend Oreille County Economic Development Council a license for its use indefinitely.
First-place winners for each of the Lifestyle & Family category and the Scenics category will be those photos which receive the most votes. Every website visitor can vote once per day per photo.
The ten photos of either category that receive the most votes will be finalists for the Best of Show grand prize. The grand prize winner will be selected from among the 10 finalists by judges from the Pend Oreille County EDC. All decisions by POCEDC judges are final.
*Updated! The deadline to enter new photos has closed, but voting on favorite photos will continue until November 15, 2016. The final contest winners will be announced later in November.
Ski passes must be redeemed during the 2016-17 ski season and are subject to all the same limitations as any regular ski pass holder as pertains to mountain conditions and open dates. The two nights’ lodging at Penny’s Place on the River must be redeemed by June 1, 2017; lodging must be reserved in advance and some blackout dates may apply as decided by Penny’s Place.
