Brothers Keepers expanding to other parts of BC
Not many people linked to the Brothers Keepers gang have been arrested or charged in Metro Vancouver despite the gang’s links to the on going Lower Mainland gang conflict.
On May 15, officers executed a search warrant at a house in the 200 block of Battleford Avenue and arrested the two suspects. Police also seized fentanyl, cocaine, almost $15,000 in cash and two vehicles that investigators are recommending for civil forfeiture.
Sgt. fairing kits Brenda Winpenny of the anti gang Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit said the Brothers Keepers are still based in the Lower Mainland, but “they definitely have got ties on the Island.”
“And they definitely are bringing their own drugs over there,” she said. Interior,” Winpenny said.
The Brothers Keepers gang was started on the Lower Mainland almost four years ago by Gavinder Grewal, who took the name from a line uttered by Wesley Snipes’s character in the 1991 movie New Jack City. ducati fairings Grewal got his new gang name tattooed across his upper chest in stylized script, as did other original members of the gang.
Grewal was shot to death in his leased North Vancouver highrise condo in December 2017 while out on bail on a manslaughter charge. No one has been charged in Grewal’s slaying, or in the murders of several of his gang mates that have been caught in a violent conflict with former associates after the gang splintered.
Grewal’s older brother Mandeep was shot to death in Abbotsford last October.
As well, Brothers Keeper gangster Matthew Alexander Navas Rivas was shot to death in East Vancouver in July 2018 and was earlier targeted in a Vancouver shooting that left 15 year old bystander Alfred Wong dead. gsxr 750 fairings
Winpenny said the gang continues to be “a very active influence in the Lower Mainland gang conflict.”
The BrothersKeepers have had associations with the Red Scorpion gang, but more recently have been aligned with the Hells Angels Hardside chapter.
In February, Delta police said they had seized a bulk quantity of fentanyl from a Surrey home linked to the Brothers Keepers. They also recovered a loaded firearm, a replica restricted firearm and two bulletproof vests.
