We are avid kayakers, and my wife Joanie loves to photograph nature on our excursions. Our first kayak voyage of 2016 was in mid March on a frosty morning in northern Pend Oreille County. We scouted several lakes, and came across a little gem, Cooks Lake. The water was a surreal lime or turquoise color, depending on how the light was hitting the water. I loved this shot of her photographing. Though the color makes it look like a tropical locale (And yes, it really was that color!), the temperature was only about 28 degrees.
